The goals of the distance learning program are to provide access to Vernon College courses and support services for students who are separated by time and physical location from a faculty member and/or any campus. Courses are the same as Vernon College courses offered on campus in terms of academic quality, credit hours, and transferability.

spacer INTERNET COURSES
Vernon College offers on-line courses taught over the Internet. Instead of attending regular classes on campus, students access weekly lessons and assignments through the Internet. Students must have access to a personal computer with Internet access and with modem and Internet provider. Most courses require students to purchase and install software on their computers.

spacer INTERACTIVE VIDEO COURSES
Interactive video instruction provides two-way, real-time communication between instructor and students who are separated by geographical distance. Vernon College's interactive video classrooms send and receive instruction from other colleges and universities and area independent school districts. The classrooms are located on the Vernon campus and at the Century City Center.

Distance learning students will pay regular resident credit tuition and fees. This information is available in the General Catalog.

Books, other course materials, and software may be purchased at the Vernon College Bookstore or through other companies chosen by the student.

Students taking courses by computer over the Internet must have access to a personal computer with Internet access, a modem, an Internet provider, and a browser (Netscape 4.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 4.00 or higher). Students may be required to purchase additional computer software for courses over the Internet.
