High School Concurrent
 and Dual Credit Enrollment

High school seniors may be admitted to concurrent enrollment (taking college courses for credit before graduation from high school) by receiving permission from their high school principal and the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid/Registrar. High school students below grade twelve may be admitted to concurrent enrollment in designated classes through permission of the high school principal and the Dean of Instruction.

 

The following is a step-by-step process for applying for admission and registering for classes for high school students attending Vernon College.

 

Step 1 – Submit Your Application for Admission (New students only)

The following items should be included in your admission application packet and sent to:

 

Vernon College Admissions Office

4400 College Drive

Vernon, Texas  76384

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

NOTE:  Parents of home schooled students may sign as the principal also.

 

Step 2 – Submit a Copy of  Your Test Scores 

Scores may be faxed to Kristin Harris, Director of Counseling at 940-855-0035

 

You may use scores from one of the following sources:

 

Please submit a paper copy of your placement test scores if you took the test at a location other than Vernon College. To schedule a placement test contact the Vernon College Testing Center

Step 3 – Register for Courses (New and Returning Students)

To be eligible for registration, you must be cleared in admissions and counseling.

Students may register for courses using one of the following methods:

 

 

 

Step 4 – Pay Tuition

After registering for courses, send a check or money order prior to the payment deadline to:

 OR use FACTS Online Tuition Management System at MyVC.

 

NOTE:  If the high school is paying the student’s tuition, the student will need to furnish the statement to the high school.

 

Step 5 - Purchase Books

Books may be purchased at the Vernon College Bookstores.  Contact your high school to find out how books are purchased and distributed for dual credit courses.  Contact one of the bookstore managers listed below if you would like to have your books shipped to you.

Step 6 - Attend Classes

High school students must attend their college classes even if their high school is not holding classes on that day.  For example, if your high school is closed for in service training, you will still be required to attend your college class on that day.  Be sure to check with your instructor to find out their specific attendance policy.
