Testing Centers are located at the Vernon and Century City campuses. Testing is by appointment only.

Instructor Information

The Vernon College Testing Center will proctor instructional tests for Vernon College  instructors on a limited basis in emergency situations only. It is the instructor's responsibility to notify the Testing Center in advance of the need for proctoring services. A "Request for Proctoring Services" form must be filled out completely and returned to the Testing Coordinator before an appointment will be scheduled. The instructor should notify the student to contact the Testing Center for an appointment after arrangements have been made.

Correspondence Testing

Vernon College Testing Center will proctor correspondence exams from other colleges or universities. A $15 fee per examination (not per course) is charged and a picture ID is required to test. Virtual College of Texas students will not be charged if the student is taking a Vernon College course and will be receiving credit on a Vernon College transcript.

Students should make arrangements with their college or university to have the test(s) sent or emailed directly to the Testing Center. Students may contact the testing center to determine if the exam has arrived and to schedule an appointment to take the exam. Exams are proctored by appointment during regular testing center hours. Accuplacer Exam

The Accuplacer exam is an approved college entrance placement test. It is designed to test your level of skill in reading, writing (includes an essay), and math. Accuplacer is completely computerized and results are immediate. The test is untimed, but usually takes 2-2 1/2 hours to test all sections. Please allow at least 3 hours for test completion.

Fee is $29 for all 3 sections. Re-test fee is $10 per individual section. Pay by check, money order or cash (bring exact amount).

If you do not pass all sections, you may re-test every 10 days.

A picture ID is mandatory to test. It can be in the form of a driver's license, student ID, military ID, or passport.

TO REQUEST A SCORE REPORT:
If you took the Accuplacer at Vernon College and you need a score report sent to your college/university, download the Request for Score Report form, print it, and mail along with fee to the address on the form.

GED Exam

 GED Classes        GED Test Dates

Cost for the GED exam is $75 for the full battery or a $15 re-test fee for individual sections. Bring a Texas driver's license or a Texas government issued picture ID and a Social Security card or you will not be able to test. Pre-registration is required. Payment for testing must be made in Testing Center at least 7 days in advance of testing. If you miss your scheduled time to test without notifying the GED examiner before the day of the test, you will be required to re-register and re-pay. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

CLEP - Vernon

 
Vernon College offers computerized CLEP examinations by appointment ONLY. To schedule an appointment to take a CLEP examination, please call 940-552-6291 ext. 2317.

To be admitted to take the CLEP examination, you must present a CURRENT PHOTO ID (driver's license, passport, military ID or college-issued student ID card with photo.) Payment may be made by check or money order. Two separate payments must be made to take the examination:

  1. CLEP FEE: $65.00 payable by check only to CLEP (Increases to $70 on 7/1/2008)
  2. VERNON COLLEGE FEE: $15.00 payable by check or cash to Vernon College
  3. OPTIONAL ESSAYS: A fee of $10 is charged to cover the processing and handling of the optional essays to be sent to another institution for the following examinations: FRESHMAN COLLEGE COMPOSITION, ENGLISH LITERATURE, ANALYZING AND INTERPRETING LITERATURE, and AMERICAN LITERATURE. The English Composition with Essay is not affected. The fee does not apply if the essay is taken for CLEP credit at Vernon College provided the examinee takes the examination and essay at Vernon College.

Educational Testing Service offers over 35 CLEP exams that can be taken for college credit. Below are all current CLEP examinations that are ACCEPTED for credit at Vernon College. Examinees should contact all colleges and universities they plan to attend to ensure that the CLEP Exam is accepted by those institutions.

Additional Information About the LVN Program

 

SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS: VC requires verification of a disability in order to provide a nonstandard test administration. Students with disabilities will be required to provide acceptable documentation (e.g. signed statement from an appropriate professional (a person licensed or certified to diagnosis this student's disability) that describes the disability and verifies the need for testing accommodations. Students who receive no routine accommodations from their schools for instruction or assessment are not eligible for any accommodations. All supporting documents must be current (no older than three years) and must be presented on official letterhead from a licensed or certified professional appropriate for evaluating the candidate's disability. GED & CLEP reserves the right to request further verification of the professional's credentials and expertise in relation to the recommendation and the right to retain an independent expert to evaluate the candidate's documentation of disability.
Special Accommodations may require extra preparation time and may require a delay in scheduling the actual test administration.
