Vernon College athletes have established a tradition of winning both in their sport and in the classroom. Vernon College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (Region V) in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference, and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Approximately 85 scholarships are awarded to outstanding athletes who compete on Vernon College athletic teams.

The Vernon College sports facilities, which are located on the Vernon campus, are second to none.

Vernon College competes against two and four year institutions from Texas and throughout the nation. Rodeo competes in the Southwest Region (one of eleven geographical regions in the United States). Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball compete in Region V of the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.
