  1. Components of medical terminology: prefixes, suffixes, root words and combining forms.
  2. Descriptive words.
  3. Spelling of medical terms.
  4. Plural forms of medical terms.
  5. Appropriate use of medical terminology in relation to specific body systems and anatomy.
  6. Abbreviations commonly used in medical terminology.
  7. Terms used in measurement.
  8. Use of medical dictionary and other medical reference books.

Students will be evaluated on their demonstrated performance to correctly spell, pronounce, and define basic medical terms; on their demonstrated performance to use prefixes, suffixes, and root words to spell and pronounce unfamiliar terms; on their demonstrated performance of identifying the body systems; on their demonstrated performance of properly abbreviating terms and measurements; and on their demonstrated performance to use medical dictionaries and other medical references.
