spacer Basic Course Information
Welcome to HITT 1305 Medical Terminology. I am Kelly Monroe, and I will be leading the instruction this semester. This course may be taken from home, office, campus computer laboratory, or anywhere access to the Internet is available. This course is the same in content as the course taught on campus. The method of delivery utilizes computer resources so students have the flexibility to plan the course around their schedule. Since this course is taught on-line, students will Email their work/questions to the instructor on campus, and participate in Email discussions with the instructor and other class members. The student must attend an orientation session on campus with the instructor prior to beginning coursework. All tests must be taken on campus.

spacer Attendance
The attendance policy is outlined in the Vernon College Student Handbook and the College Catalog. Please read it and be familiar with it. It is the student's responsibility to drop this course if the student cannot complete the requirements. Students are required to check in with the instructor by e-mail at the beginning of each week to advise the instructor of course progress. One of the advantages of this class is its flexibility. However, if the student does not keep up, it is difficult for the instructor to assess work in a timely manner. There is also a risk of getting so far behind that the course cannot be completed by the end of the semester.

Please remember as this course is taken, the student is a member of a real and virtual class. The difference between this class and a class taken on campus is that it is not operated on a synchronous schedule. However, the instructor can always be contacted by Email as a student works through assignments. The student will also be working with other classmates as potential challenges are tackled. To stay on schedule, follow the Assignment Sheet and check Email daily for important notices.
