Scholarships and Awards

The Vernon College Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to full-time students in the following categories:

ATHLETIC TEAM - Awarded on a competitive basis to students who participate in the following sports: men's baseball, rodeo, women's volleyball, women's fast-pitch softball, and horse judging team. Each applicant will be evaluated on ability, academic achievement, and character. Contact the appropriate coach for more information on athletic/team scholarships.

FINE ARTS - Awarded to students who have shown outstanding ability in the areas of the performing arts (drama/ music). Drama recipients must enroll in DRAM 1120 Rehearsal and Performance. Music recipients must enroll in MUEN 1151 or MUEN 1152, Vocal Ensemble. Contact the drama or music instructor for more information on fine arts scholarships.

LEADERSHIP - Awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership ability in student government at VC. Contact the Office of Student Services for more information on leadership scholarships.

Annual Vernon College Scholarships

SCHOLASTIC - Awarded to students who have exhibited outstanding scholastic ability in high school and/or college. First year applicants must have achieved a 3.0 grade point average or its equivalent in high school and/or college. For second year consideration, applicants must have earned a 3.0 grade point average in college.

Each of the following scholarships are awarded annually as $500 scholarships using the basic criteria of (1) 3.0 GPA, (2) full-time student, (3) achievements, and (4) restrictions on specific scholarships.
