What is the Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)?
The Texas Public Education Grant is funded from tuition paid by
students attending VC. The applicant must be enrolled at least half-time and
have financial need.

What is the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)?
The purpose of the SEOG is to provide grant aid to first time undergraduate
students with exceptional financial
need. SEOG is awarded only to PELL Grant recipients with the lowest expected family
contribution.

What is the Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP)?
The LEAP program was established to furnish assistance to full-time students
with financial need who are residents
of Texas attending institutions of higher education in Texas.

What is the Toward EXcellence, Access and Success Grant (TEXAS GRANT)?
The TEXAS grant is awarded to Texas residents who are enrolled at least three-quarter time
and meet the following eligibility requirements: have financial need and a family contribution
of $4000 or less, a 1999 or later graduate
of a Texas public high school having completed the recommended or advanced curriculum,
have accumulated no more than 30 semester credit hours,
and have enrolled as an entering undergraduate student no later than the 16th month after the month
of high school graduation, not have been granted a baccalaureate degree,
and not have a felony conviction involving a controlled substance.

What is the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG)?
The TEOG grant is awarded to Texas residents who are enrolled at least half-time
and meet the following eligibility requirements: have financial need and a family contribution of $2,000
or less, not be convicted of a felony involving a controlled substance, not have an associate degree or
baccalaureate degree, must be entering student enrolled in the first 30 hours of his or her degree
or certificate and not be eligible for a Texas Grant.

What is the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)?
The ACG is awarded to Pell Grant recipients who are U.S. Citizens, enrolled
full-time in a degree program (certificate seeking students are not
eligible), who completed a rigorous secondary school program of study as
defined by the U.S. Department of Education after January 1, 2005 and have
financial need.

Who is eligible?
These grants are awarded to students on a first come,
first served basis. Please see the Financial Aid Calendar
to determine when your paperwork must be complete in order to receive maximum available
aid consideration.

How do I determine my enrollment status?
A full-time student is enrolled in 12 or more hours. A three-quarter time student is
enrolled in 9-11 hours. A half-time student is enrolled in 6-8 hours. A less-than-half
time student is enrolled in 1-5 hours.

What forms do I need to fill out?
You will need to complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and all other paperwork
necessary to process an award at VC. Note: You may also
be asked to provide copies of other documentation, such as income tax forms
(including yours, your spouse's and/or your parents'). If
you have not filed, or will not file an income tax return,
you may be asked to provide documentation of your non-taxable income (including
child support, social security benefits, TANF, disability income, etc.)

What else will I need?
You will need to complete an Application
for Admission to VC, and have all necessary academic transcripts
on file at the Registrar's office. These may include
high school transcripts, G.E.D. certificates, and college (and/or trade school)
academic transcripts.
You must also indicate to the Admissions Office that you are seeking a degree
or certificate offered at VC.
