Electronic Commerce Specialist
The Computer and Information Sciences Electronic Commerce Specialist Program has both an Associate of Applied Science Degree and a Certificate of Completion. The primary objective is to prepare an individual to enter the workforce or improve the skills of the currently employed individual. However, through articulation agreements, most of the hours earned in Vernon College's Associate of Applied Science Degree will transfer into MSU's Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science Degree or into Wayland Baptist University's Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education Degree. The purpose of the Computer and Information Sciences Electronic Commerce Specialist program is to provide students with current technological skills needed for the workplace. Each certificate and degree is developed, approved, and implemented in coordination with an advisory committee, a group of professionals representing business, industry, labor, information processing, and computer operation environments. The Certificates of Completion and Associate of Applied Science degrees (AAS) mirror local, state, and national demands that lead to successful participation in a global economy. In addition to VC certificates and degrees, students in the program have the opportunity to take courses that prepare them for professional certification examinations.
The Electronic Commerce Specialist program integrates business and technology training. It provides courses that train students to help organizations as they migrate to electronic business applications to use technology to communicate with employees, clients, and consumers. Emphasis is on a wide variety of application programs, introductory programming and networking, operating systems, Internet/web page development, and electronic commerce.
