Employees' Forum Scholarship Guidelines

  1. Applicants who are pursuing a degree in Office Technology or Business shall be considered for this award.
  2. Each applicant must submit a written application (application forms are available from the Financial Aid Office) and any other required documents before being considered for a scholarship.
  3. The applicant must demonstrate "financial need" according to the federal rules and regulations.
  4. The applicant must enroll full-time (at least 12 semester hours) each semester.
  5. Applicants enrolled half-time (6-8 semester hours) or three-quarter time (9-11 semester hours) may be considered under special circumstances.
  6. Incoming freshmen applicants must have a "B" average on their high school work. Those applicants with previous college hours must have a 3.0 grade point average with no grade below a "C".
  7. The Vernon College Employees' Forum shall appoint a committee to consider all applications and recommend a recipient to the members of the Forum for approval.
  8. The scholarship award shall be $250 per semester or $500 per academic year.
  9. The scholarship award shall be for one academic year exclusive of the summer session.
  10. Recipients of the award may be considered for the scholarship for a second year by filing a new application, demonstrating a continued "need", and by maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average with no grade below a "C".
  11. If there are no applicants in the field of Office Technology or Business, students interested in other fields of study may be considered for the Vernon College Employees' Forum Scholarship award.
