Accelerated Alternative Delivery (AAD) Program

Vernon College's Accelerated Alternative Delivery Option in Surgical Technology is a distance learning program for Surgical Technologists that have had previous on the job training or attended a non-CAAHEP accredited program. On the job training must have occurred before March 2000 in order to qualify for the AAD program. Upon verification of clinical skills, Vernon College will provide clinical credit for documented work experience.

The Surgical Technology AAD Program requires 50% of courses for the Certification of Completion are Vernon College earned credit. The five required requirements must be taken at Vernon College and the related requirements can be transfer credit if course is accepted by Vernon College Admissions Department. The required courses are offered in the fall semester and spring semester and students can complete the AAD program in one (1) or two (2) semesters.

AAD Program Admission Process: Effective April 2008

  1. Applicants must apply to Vernon College and be accepted by the college. You can apply online at http://www.vernoncollege.edu/appinst.html and Vernon College requires a $10 admission fee.
  2. Applicants must download and print the Residency Core Questions form http://www.vernoncollege.edu/rcqinstr.html This form must be completed, signed, and sent to the Admissions Office at the address provided on the form with the $10 admission fee.
  3. Request that any college you have attended send your official transcript to Vernon College's Admissions Department. The student is responsible to follow up and ensure the transcript has been sent by the college you attended and received by Vernon College.
  4. Download the AAD Program application at http://www.vernoncollege.edu/surgtech/aad_application.pdf and complete the application.
  5. Download the Supervisor Verification forms at http://www.vernoncollege.edu/surgtech/aad_supervisor.pdf and have your supervisor complete these forms. These forms must be signed by your supervisor and notarized by a public notary.
  6. Mail the completed AAD program application and supervisor forms to the Surgical Technology AAD Program, Vernon College, 4105 Maplewood Avenue, Wichita Falls, TX 76308. These program forms must be mailed as some signatures require notarization and the original forms must be submitted. Faxed applications will not be accepted.
  7. Failure to complete steps 1, 2, and/or 3 will significantly delay the application process and may prevent the applicant from being able to enroll online and start the program

Foreign Medical Graduates or applicants with training in any country other than the United States will have to submit a translated transcript in order to be considered for admission.

Surgical experience as a Surgical Technologist in the First Scrub Role must be documented and verified or the applicant will not be considered for admission into the AAD Program.
