2007-2008
The STSA is
composed of students currently enrolled in the Surgical
Technology Program at Vernon
College in Wichita Falls.
Students have several goals this year including
performing community projects while promoting the program
and Vernon College. Fund raising will be done
throughout the year to raise money for various community
projects and to provide funds for students to attend the
Association of Surgical Technologists National Conference in
Orlando,
Florida in May 2008. This
national meeting of Surgical Technologists offers
educational sessions, the opportunity to network with fellow
students and working Surgical Technologists from across the
country, employment opportunities, and demonstrations of the
latest technology and products related to the field.
The first activity of the association this year was to
acknowledge National Surgical Technologists week September
16-22. The students prepared and provided "goodie bags" for
the Surgical Technologists and Nurses at all four clinical
sites. The STSA has also conducted a canned food drive for
Faith Mission in Wichita Falls as well as supported the SGA
coat drive.
The STSA supports fellow student organizations and will
work closely with the Student Forum of Wichita Falls in
their endeavors.
