BARBER PROGRAM

The Class A Barber program is a one-year (30 credit hour) certificate of completion program (1000 clock hours). The focus of this program is hair care, nail care and skin care. A Class A Barber specializes in the cutting of hair using clipper, shear and razor. Also chemical services such as relaxers, texturizers, perms, and color. A business management course is taught to help with development of their practice. Courses are available at the Century City Center. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the examination prescribed by the State Licensing agency to become a Licensed Class A Barber.

Licensed Barbers can find career opportunities either working for themselves or as an associate in a salon.

The Vernon College Barber Program is accredited by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
