Degree programs offered at Vernon College embody a coherent course of study that is compatible with its mission, which is to be a comprehensive community college that integrates education with opportunity. The vision of Vernon College is to promote a culture of success for our students and communities through learner-centered quality instructional programs and exemplary services. Vernon College integrates education with opportunity through its instructional programs and student services.


The college provides technical programs up to two years in length leading to associate degrees or certificates as well as vocational programs leading directly to employment in semi-skilled and skilled occupations. Freshman and sophomore courses in arts and sciences, including the new core and field of study curricula lead to associate and baccalaureate degrees. Continuing adult education programs including adult literacy and other basic skills programs provide occupational upgrading and personal enrichment opportunities to the citizens in the community. Workforce education programs are designed to meet local and statewide needs in business and industry. A continuing program of guidance and counseling assists students in achieving their individual educational goals.


Programs and courses are developed in accordance with The Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), the Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM) and the Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM).
