About Toastmasters

Since its founding in 1924, Toastmasters International has helped four million men and women develop their public speaking skills, thus becoming confident communicators at work, home and elsewhere. Headquartered in Southern California, TMI has approximately 195,000 members, boasting 9300 clubs across 70 countries (Friedman, 2003). Vernon College is now a proud part of this long-established organization!

Established in January 2003, Vernon College Toastmasters is an extracurricular organization offering students, faculty and staff the opportunity to sharpen their personal and professional communication skills in an exciting, supportive and productive environment.

This internationally recognized organization provides members the unique opportunity to present a variety of speeches in a comfortable environment while building communication confidence and competence! As communication skills are critical to professional success, involvement in Vernon College Toastmasters is a proven advantage for our career seeking graduates!

In addition to fun weekly meetings, members receive a communication and leadership manual, a monthly magazine from Toastmasters International as well as the opportunity to compete in area, district, state, national, and international speech competitions.
