It's time to reconfigure your netscape email to reflect our new name: vernoncollege.edu.There are 6 easy steps and most of you will complete them without any assistance from Information Technology. An illustration follows the instructions for each of the first 5 steps.
If you have problems, contact Information Technology at ext. 2300.
Before you begin, you should either print these instructions or open a second browser window. Use one window to view the instructions and the second window to make your configuration changes.
Step 1
First, we must go to the area of Netscape that allows you to change your personnel preferences and account settings. With Netscape open do the following:
- Click on Edit.
- Click on Preferences.

Step 2
Now you need to get into your mail settings.
- If Mail and Newsgroups does not have an indented list beneath it, double-click on Mail and Newsgroups.
- Click on Identity.
- Replace vrjc.cc.tx.us with vernoncollege.edu in your Email address. Be sure not to delete your username. For instance, cslosser@vrjc.cc.tx.us changed to cslosser@vernoncollege.edu .

Step 3
Next we go to the area where we can tell netscape what servers are handling your incoming and outgoing mail.
- Click on Mail Servers.
- Click on the Edit button.

Step 4
Now we will tell netscape that your incoming mail server is vernoncollege.edu. Don't worry. You will still get mail from vrjc.cc.tx.us as well.
- Change the Server Name to mail.vernoncollege.edu
- Click OK.

Step 5
Next we specify the outgoing mail server.
- Look at the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server. If it says mail no change is necessary. If it says mail.vrjc.cc.tx.us, change it to mail.vernoncollege.edu.
- Click OK.

Step 6
That's all there is to it!Now you need a test. Click here to send the webmaster a test email message. an email message. Ask the webmaster to reply if they receive the message.
