Mask Protocol Update
Posted By: Holly Scheller - 4/30/2021 12:00:00 AM
In accordance with Governor Abbott’s executive order issued on May 18, 2021, facial coverings/masks will no longer be required/mandated at Vernon College, effective Monday, May 24, 2021.
The wearing of face coverings/masks is optional and any employee or student who chooses to wear a face covering/mask is encouraged to do so.
In accordance with the  Governor’s order, Vernon College or any Vernon College employee cannot make a statement to require/mandate a face covering/mask in campus buildings, classrooms, or labs.
All employees and students are encouraged to continue monitoring themselves for COVID-19 symptoms, taking appropriate precautions,  and staying away from campus if they have symptoms.
All employees and students who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to consider doing so. Vernon College encourages anyone who has not been vaccinated to continue to wear a face covering/mask and practice social distancing per guidance from the CDC.
Please be mindful that some members of our campus community may not be able to get vaccinated for medical or religious reasons, or may be vaccinated and choose to continue wearing a mask. Thank you for respecting all members of the Vernon College community and their decision whether or not to wear a mask.
Vernon College will continue to monitor data regarding COVID-19 exposures and positive cases.
