How long is the LVN Program?

The LVN day program is a one year program. Students in the spring (January admission) finish in December of the same year while August entrants will finish the following August.  The August (Fall) cohort will only be held at the Century City location.  The January (Spring) cohort will be held at all locations - Wichita Falls, Vernon and Seymour campuses.

 

What are the days and times of classes?

The day program is 4 days per week (class & clinical) Monday through Thursday. Class days of the week vary according to the semester and meet from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Clinical days begin at 6:30 AM and vary in length from 8 to 10 hours depending on the semester.

 

Are there any prerequisites?

Starting with the Fall 2020 semester students will be required to have completed the course Anatomy & Physiology 1 (BIOL 2401). It is strongly recommended that students complete the co-requirement courses Growth & Development (PSYC 2314), and Anatomy & Physiology 2 (BIOL 2402). There are NO prerequisites for the Spring 2020 semester.

How do I prepare for the HESI A2 Nursing entrance exam?

Either purchase or download a HESI A2 LPN study guide or review book with sample tests, flash cards and realistic questions. They are available at local bookstores or through Amazon.

 

What does the HESI test consist of?

The HESI A2 LPN Exam will have 3 categories:

·        Reading Comprehension

·        Anatomy and Physiology 

·        Math

Note:

Candidates with an accumulative score of 70% or better will be given priority during cohort selection.

 

How many times can I take the entrance exam?

If you take the HESI A2 LPN entrance exam and are not satisfied with your score, you can only take the exam one additional time.

 

When do I need to schedule the HESI A2 LPN exam?

Before you submit your application to the program be sure to call the Vernon testing center to schedule the exam. Upon completion of the exam bring the results to the LVN office to place it with your application.

What if I do not have a record of my immunization?

Blood work can be drawn to determine the presence of immunizations.

The required immunizations are: Hepatitis B – 3 shot series, TB, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, TDaP, Varicella and Flu.

 

Health Insurance Coverage information:

Health insurance policies for students are available. These policies are issued by private agencies authorized by the College. Policy brochures may be obtained by contacting the Student Services Office at the appropriate campus location or picked up during registration.
