Fire Safety Report 2014
Vernon College staff members present: Tony Perez, Chris Cox, Chris Bell, Tatiana Booth and Caitlin Bradley
At 7:00 pm on Thursday Sept.12, 2013 Caitlin Bradley (on the front side) and Chris Cox (on the backside) sounded the sirens on the megaphones alerting students of the drill. Tony Perez, Tatiana Booth and Chris Bell cleared each individual room making sure that no students were left in their rooms. All baseball dorm students walked to the tennis courts.
It took approximately 4 minutes to evacuate all main dorm students to the tennis courts; all rooms were clear of students. Upon all dorm students arriving at the tennis courts; Chris Bell thanked all dorm students for their cooperation in the safe and quick evacuation of the student resident center. Tony Perez reminded all students there are smoke detectors in each individual room and that tampering is an offense punishable by fine. Fire extinguisher locations were pointed out for student safety.
Chris Bell thanked the students for participating and reminded them to be sure and keep fire hazard materials out of their rooms. Students were also instructed that in case of a tornado, the evacuation would take place in the dorm basement.
